FAQs

  • How many times per week can I attend BJJ classes?

If you sign up for Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes with us at Victory Martial Arts you can attend as many times per week as you like. We encourage our All-Access BJJ students to attend class at least three days per week, but we also have some members who attend every day of the week! Basically, it’s your decision how often you want to train. You may only attend one day per week, which is a great option for beginners, very young children, or students who have a very limited amount of time to dedicate to their training.

  • Can I take Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes if I’m not in good shape, not very athletic, or if I don’t have any experience?

Absolutely! Don’t be afraid, everyone has to start somewhere! BJJ is a great way to improve your health and overall physical fitness, no matter what the starting point is. Our martial arts programs allow students to go step by step, level by level, at their own pace. Our jiu-jitsu programs are ideal for people of all ages and skill levels as well as those who want to improve their physical shape. In our Victory family, everyone has a unique journey according to their needs!

  • How do I get started?

The very first step is to get in contact with us! You can fill out our contact form, send us an email, a message on Facebook or Instagram or even give us a call. We would be more than happy to schedule an appointment with you, give you the chance to meet some of our instructors and take you on a tour through the Victory Martial Arts school. If you like, you can also watch a class and ask everything you want to know!

  • Will I learn to defend myself?

YES, if you take our Brazilian Jiujutsu classes. However, don't be fooled by people who say that you can be prepared in just a few lessons. Real self-defense takes time to learn - you need awareness and tactics, and you have to get in reasonable shape. The good news is that Victory Martial Arts will get you there safely, and with many benefits in personality and character development. Our students get in great shape and learn to live positive, balanced lives.

  • What is Jujutsu?

Jujutsu (also written "jujitsu" or "jiu jitsu") is a Japanese martial art that typically focuses on defense against attacks such as strikes, wrist grabs, chokes, bear hugs, and kicks. After avoiding the attack, the jujutsu practitioner applies a joint lock, strike, take down, or throw. Practice is systematic, starting with simple, safe techniques, and gradually getting more technical and advanced. However you spell it, jujitsu is useful for self-defense, great for cardio, and a terrific vehicle for personal development.

  • I’m not a member of your academy. As a visitor, may I train at Victory Martial Arts?

The answer is YES! We welcome anyone, from any academy/affiliation. A simple drop-in fee and waiver signing is all it takes.
